ಸುಮಾರು ಒಂದು ತಿಂಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಪೈಪ್ಲೈನ್ ಸಂಪರ್ಕಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಟಾರ್ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡ್ಡಲಾಗಿ ತೋಡಿದ ಗುಂಡಿಯನ್ನು ಇನ್ನೂ ಮುಚ್ಚದಿರುವುದರಿಂದ, ವಾಹನ ಸವಾರರು—ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ದ್ವಿಚಕ್ರ ವಾಹನ ಸವಾರರು—ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣ ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅಪಘಾತಕ್ಕೀಡಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಆಲ್ ಇಂಡಿಯಾ ಕೌನ್ಸಿಲ್ ಆಫ್ ಹ್ಯೂಮನ್ ರೈಟ್ಸ್ ರಾಜ್ಯಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಹೆಚ್.ಆರ್ ಅಹ್ಮದ್ ಅಲಿಖಾನ್ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, “ಈ ಗುಂಡಿಯಿಂದ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಅನಾಹುತಗಳು ಸಂಭವಿಸುತ್ತಿವೆ. ನೂರಾರು ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರು ಮತ್ತು ಜನಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳು ಇದೇ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಚರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆದರೂ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗೆ ಪರಿಹಾರ ಕಂಡುಹಿಡಿಯದಿರುವುದು ವಿಷಾದಕರ,” ಎಂದು ಆರೋಪಿಸಿದರು.
ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗೆ ಬೈಕ್ ಸವಾರನೊಬ್ಬ ಗುಂಡಿ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಲು ಹೋಗಿ ಬಿದ್ದು ಕಾಲು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಘಟನೆ ನಡೆದಿದ್ದು, ಕಳೆದ ಒಂದು ತಿಂಗಳಿಂದ ಅಪಘಾತಗಳು ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿವೆ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ನಿವೃತ್ತ ಕೃಷಿ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ಚಂದ್ರಶೇಖರ್ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, “ರಸ್ತೆ ಅಚ್ಚುಕಟ್ಟಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ವೇಗವಾಗಿ ಬರುವ ವಾಹನಗಳು ಈ ಗುಂಡಿಯನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸದೇ ಅಪಘಾತಕ್ಕೀಡಾಗುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಹೆಲ್ಮೆಟ್ ಧರಿಸದಿದ್ದರೆ ಜೀವಕ್ಕೆ ಅಪಾಯ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿದೆ,” ಎಂದು ಎಚ್ಚರಿಸಿದರು.
ಸಂಬಂಧಪಟ್ಟ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ತಕ್ಷಣ ರಸ್ತೆ ದುರಸ್ತಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಂದಾಗಿ ಅಪಘಾತಗಳನ್ನು ತಡೆಗಟ್ಟಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರು ಆಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

Belur: Public outrage is mounting over increasing accidents caused by a large pothole on the Belur-Halebidu road near Shantinagar.
The trench, dug nearly a month ago for pipeline work, has not been repaired, leading to frequent accidents—especially involving two-wheeler riders who lose control while trying to avoid it.
H.R. Ahmed Alikhan, State President of All India Council of Human Rights, stated that many mishaps have already occurred due to this negligence. “Hundreds of tourists and even public representatives use this road, yet no action has been taken,” he said.
Recently, a biker reportedly lost his leg after falling while trying to avoid the pothole. Locals say accidents have been occurring continuously over the past month.
Retired agriculture officer Chandrashekar warned that speeding vehicles fail to notice the pothole in time, leading to sudden braking and crashes. He stressed that lack of helmet usage could result in fatal injuries.
Residents have urged authorities to take immediate action to repair the road and prevent further casualties.
